A speech given by Mr. Kamal Kishin Loungani, Founder and CMD of KIT Group on the first working Sunday of the month – June 4 th , 2017.

My dear team members,

It gives me joy unspeakable to address you all in this wonderful evening, as all of us are well aware of, these days there is so much talk about increasing productivity and researchers are going overboard trying to introduce newer and newer gadgets, tools and systems to improve productivity. My recommendation dear colleagues is that ‘a simple change in attitude’ can bring about immense change in productivity.

Whatever be the gadgets you have, the results can come only when the inner climate is conducive. By inner climate, I mean your emotions and thoughts. If the thoughts are confident and the emotions are cheerful, productivity can go up by leaps and bounds.

Here are some simple tips on how to bring about a change in your inner climate:

“ATTITUDE IS THE KEY” to cultivate competency skills for a progressive business environment and here is how you can make full use of it:

Learn to know about your colleagues – spend time and effort in knowing others, especially those who work with you. We are all human beings with our own strengths and weaknesses. When we take the effort to know our colleagues it helps build relationships and brings about a quantum change in the
working atmosphere.

Communicate aptly with your colleagues – remember a drop of honey attracts more bees, in thesame manner, soft words, attract people to you. When things go wrong, let ‘fact finding’ be the objective and not ‘fault finding’. Expressions like ‘if you please, ’, ‘May I’, ‘sorry if I have not made
myself clear’, will earn you more respect than all your professional brilliance.

Improve peer level interaction – The senior managers/department heads ought to have more informal interaction among them. The interaction is now limited only to official meetings and issues; it would bring in a lot more cooperation and teamwork if the peers decided to meet over a cup of coffee once in a while. Why go searching for friends outside when you could make them in the workplace itself.

Manage pressures and challenges – If there were no pressures there would be no competition and consequently no growth. What is important is the ability to manage pressures. Each one of us has to take the initiative to manage pressures. It is important to be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. It takes very little effort to point out the problem, whereas it takes initiative and intelligence to look for solutions.

So, dear colleagues, I would like to sign off on this note: Success is not in reaching the destination alone, there are a lot of little successes in performing the journey, so let’s achieve them together.

Good luck to all of you and wish you all the best in your efforts in cultivating competencies and become more ‘fit’’ for life and work.

-Happiness
